With the 203rd pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, Zack Williams, a center from Washington State, was selected by the Carolina Panthers. And with that, the Cougars had themselves a bona-fide draft pick, a rarity on the Palouse these days. Williams impressed with his combine numbers, showing off surprising athleticism in pre-draft workouts.
Williams was a mainstay on the Washington offensive line in 2010, though he did take some grief for his difficulty handling snaps while the team was in the shotgun. But Williams is a capable interior lineman despite his issues with long-snapping, which should be less of an issue in the NFL.
