NFL Playoff Picture: Seahawks Eliminated From Playoffs Following Loss To 49ers

The Seattle Seahawks took a tough game right to the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday. For a while there, it looked like Marshawn Lynch and the Seattle squad might pull off the upset and send San Francisco packing. The dream was that Seattle would ride into the last week of the season on a major winning streak and perhaps be the most surprising team to claim a final postseason berth.

Alas, due to an incomprehensible goal line stand, a ball stripped from Tarvaris Jackson and the talented foot of David Akers, the Seahawks were handed the loss and officially eliminated from playoffs contention. The Seahawks have a chance to salvage a bit of bragging rights from the season, however, as they have a chance to knock off the Arizona Cardinals in the final week of the season and finish in second place in the NFC West.

A rough end to the season, but given how the year began, it could have been far worse. The Seahawks have a right to hold their head up high and be proud of the second half they put together.
