Seahawks Vs 49ers: Mike Williams Goes To I.R., Phillip Adams Signed

The Seahawks made a couple of roster moves today, placing receiver Mike Williams on the Injured Reserve and signing DB Phillip Adams to the active 53-man roster. Williams broke his ankle in last Sunday's game against Chicago after catching a pass, and is now the 15th player the Hawks have placed on Injured Reserve. In case you're keeping track at home, with the 53 on the active roster and the 8 on the practice squad, the Hawks are only allowed four more players on IR before they start cutting players from their practice squad list. Teams are allowed 80 players on their payroll during the season.

Phillip Adams comes to Seattle via New England and San Francisco. He was drafted by the 49ers out of South Carolina State in the 7th round of the 2010 Draft. He showed some promise as a cornerback and played solidly as a special teamer with San Francisco but broke his ankle in Week 16 last season. He was cut from the 49ers in Training Camp this season, had a tryout with the Seahawks, but ended up signing in New England. He's been on and off of the Patriots roster this year and now acts as an insurance policy for Kennard Cox's bum hamstring.

If Cox can't go for Saturday's big matchup with San Francisco, look for Adams to be active and contributing on special teams against his former team. You can find a pre-Draft scouting report on him here
