The good news for the Seattle Seahawks heading into Week 15 and beyond is that they still have a chance at making the playoffs. The bad news is that it will take a lucky combination of Seattle wins and key losses by a handful of other NFC teams.
You can see the full rundown of the postseason standings over at ESPN, but the pertinent information as it pertains to the Seahawks is as follows: they'll need to win the rest of their games this season, starting with Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.
Beyond winning out the rest of the season, they'll need a string of losses by the Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, New York Giants and/or Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals. They'll also need the Bears to start losing, but can at least control that portion of their destiny by handing Chicago a loss, which will move them into a tie with the Bears and give the two teams matching 7-7 records. Between the Cowboys and the Giants, whichever team finishes the season with the best record will automatically enter the playoffs as the NFC East champ. It's still for the best for Seattle fans to hope for both teams to lose every week.
Every week now turns into a do-or-die week for the Seahawks. A little of their postseason chances are in their own hands, so it's up to them to take that step at least. For now, if nothing else, the playoffs are a possibility.
