Aaron Curry Trade To Raiders Official; Seahawks Receive 2012 And 2013 Draft Picks

Aaron Curry can finally get his new start going in Oakland. The Seattle Seahawks officially completed their trade of their star-crossed linebacker down to the East Bay.

The Seahawks released a statement on his departure. John P. Boyle of the Everrett Herald with the report.

GM John Schneider statement released by the team: "On behalf of Mr. Allen, Coach Carroll, and the entire Seahawks family, we want to thank Aaron for his contributions to the Seahawks and wish him all the best with his fresh start in Oakland."

The Raiders gave up draft picks in 2012 and 2013 to get Curry; Oakland's 2012 NFL Draft was already looking bare, so this is not a huge concession. Oakland gets a potential linebacker that could break out in a new defensive scheme in new surroundings, no longer burdened by the expectations of a fanbase that wanted so much from him. Seattle can move on with K.J. Wright as their primary linebacking replacement and hope he can provide greater production and performance at a lower level.
