NFL Playoffs, Seahawks Vs. Saints: Seattle Puts Together A Drive To Cut Into New Orleans Lead

The Seattle Seahawks faced a crucial drive in their opening NFL playoff matchup at Qwest Field after the New Orleans Saints scored the first 10 points of the game, placing the Seahawks back on their heels. As a sign of disrespect for the Seahawks offense, and respect for Leon Washington, the Saints have been giving away field position on the kickoff, electing to pooch kick the ball. The Seahawks took advantage this time as Hasselbeck carried the team down the field and into the end zone.

Marshawn Lynch was a beast on the ground, picking up two huge first downs in the run game. Mike Williams had a first down grab and Ben Obomanu gutted-out another first down to keep the drive alive. Obomanu was injured on the play, being taken to the locker room holding his wrist. After a holding penalty on the Saints, Hasselbeck went play action, finding a wide open John Carlson in the end zone for the score.

The Seahawks are alive and well at Qwest Field, trailing the Saints 10-7 in the first quarter. Welcome back, John Carlson; nice to see you again. We’ll see if the Seahawks defense can stop the Saints for the first time today, coming up at Qwest Field.
