AFC Championship Game: Steelers vs. Jets Set For Next Sunday

The divisional round of the NFL playoffs is over and both championship games are set. On the NFC side, it’s the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers playing for a trip to the Super Bowl next Sunday. On the AFC side, the Pittsburgh Steelers locked up one berth yesterday, finishing the Baltimore Ravens with a last-second field goal. On Sunday, the Jets backed up a week of trash talk, outlasting the Patriots down the stretch in a 28-21 win.

The Jets and Steelers hit the field with the AFC Championship on the line next Sunday (Jan. 22) at 3:30 p.m. on CBS. The Steelers hold home-field advantage as the No. 2 seed in the AFC.

Next weekend’s game will the second time these two teams have played, the first coming in week 15. The Jets walked away from Heinz Field with a 22-17 win. Brad Smith, inactive for the Jets playoff game on Sunday, returned the opening kickoff 97 yards for the touchdown in that week 15 matchup as the Jets used a late field goal and safety to preserve the win.

The Jets and Steelers kick it off at Heinz Field next Sunday at 3:30 p.m. For more coverage from today's game, check out SB Nation's StoryStream.
