The divisional round of the NFL playoffs is over and both championship games are set. On the NFC side, it’s the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers playing for a trip to the Super Bowl next Sunday. On the AFC side, the Pittsburgh Steelers locked up one berth yesterday, finishing the Baltimore Ravens with a last-second field goal. On Sunday, the Jets backed up a week of trash talk, outlasting the Patriots down the stretch in a 28-21 win.
The Jets and Steelers hit the field with the AFC Championship on the line next Sunday (Jan. 22) at 3:30 p.m. on CBS. The Steelers hold home-field advantage as the No. 2 seed in the AFC.
Next weekend’s game will the second time these two teams have played, the first coming in week 15. The Jets walked away from Heinz Field with a 22-17 win. Brad Smith, inactive for the Jets playoff game on Sunday, returned the opening kickoff 97 yards for the touchdown in that week 15 matchup as the Jets used a late field goal and safety to preserve the win.
