The NFC West will be on full display next week as the Seattle Seahawks and St. Louis Rams battle for the NFC West title and playoff spot. On Sunday night, NBC announced the network would flex the game, moving it from its normal start time to 5:20 p.m. As a result, the Seahawks and Rams are in primetime, live for the nation to see.
The Rams took care of business on Sunday, dropping the San Francisco 49ers to setup a week 17 showdown for all the marbles in the NFC West. The St. Louis win ensured the Seahawks and Rams would play for the division title in week 17, no matter the outcome of the Seahawks game later in the day. Playing in a meaningless game, the Seahawks fell hard to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road, 38-15.
It’s winner take all in Seattle next weekend. The winner heads to the playoffs and earns the right to host a home game in the first round. The loser goes how to ponder what happened in 2010. Both teams are guaranteed a record at or below .500 after a rough season in the division.
