Jay Cutler is improving and hasn’t suffered any setbacks, but his status for Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks is still up in the air. Bears head coach Lovie Smith didn’t elaborate, only saying he’d know more on Wednesday.
"We’ll continue to evaluate Jay Cutler," Smith said. "Hopefully Jay will be able to go this week. He hasn’t had any setbacks. He’s doing better. On Wednesday we’ll be able to tell you a little bit more."
Without Cutler, the Bears were forced to use veteran journeyman Todd Collins as the starter, with third-year quarterback Caleb Hanie manning the backup role. It’s safe to say they want Cutler back as soon as possible.
With or without Cutler, the Bears take on the Seahawks at Soldier Field this Sunday at 10 a.m.
