NBA Draft Rumors: San Antonio Spurs Eye Klay Thompson, Talking Trade With Kings, Raptors

The San Antonio Spurs are still attempting to trade Tony Parker ahead of the 2011 NBA Draft and Klay Thompson appears to be the reason why. According to reports, San Antonio is in talks with the Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors in hopes of moving up into the early part of the first round. Parker is the main trade chip, setting up what could be a blockbuster trade on draft day.

The report comes from ESPN and shows just how many teams are looking to move out of the lottery. In addition to the Raptors and Kings, who hold the No. 5 and No. 7 pick, respectively, the Milwaukee Bucks are also looking to move down from their No. 10 spot. But the focus is on the Spurs and their attempts to move-up, reportedly for Thompson.

Among a flurry of predraft trade talks around the league Wednesday, the San Antonio Spurs have discussed moving Tony Parker to either the Sacramento Kings or Toronto Raptors in exchange for their first-round pick.

The Spurs have their eye on Washington State's Klay Thompson, sources say.

Thompson is at No. 10 in the latest DraftExpress 2011 NBA mock draft, as well as Sam Amick's and Chad Ford's projections. If the Bucks were to move down, it's unknown how it'd affect Thompson, if he's even around by that pick. If the Spurs are targeting the fifth and seventh pick to take Thompson, it could be a huge day for the Washington State star.

We'll find out where Thompson ends up as the 2011 NBA Draft gets underway on Thursday at 4 p.m. For the latest projections ahead of the draft, stay with our 2011 NBA mock draft StoryStream. For more on the Washington State Cougars, head over to SB Nation's CougCenter.
