Mariners Vs. Athletics Final Score: King Felix Falters In 6-1 Loss

The Seattle Mariners had to feel good about their chances on Friday, as Felix Hernandez took the hill against the Oakland Athletics at Safeco Field. The A's were coming off being swept at home, but they rebounded with ease in Seattle, roughing up King Felix in a 6-1 Mariners loss.

Yoenis Cespedes hit a two-out RBI single in the first inning to get the scoring started. The Mariners answered back in the bottom of the second inning, as Brendan Ryan made it 1-1 with a two-out RBI single of his own. Unfortunately, that would be the last run Seattle would score.

George Kottaras delivered the big blow with a three-run homer in the top of the fourth to give Oakland a 4-1 lead. Oakland tacked on two more runs in the fifth thanks to RBI hits from Josh Donaldson and Stephen Drew.

The A's scored all six of their runs (five earned) off of Hernandez, who lasted just 4.2 innings and gave up 11 hits and a walk. The Mariners were held to seven hits in the game, all singles.
