Mariners Vs. Red Sox Final Score: Seattle Blows Early Lead, Loses 4-3

Despite an early lead on Tuesday night, the Seattle Mariners lost to the Boston Red Sox by a final score of 4-3 at Safeco Field.

Jesus Montero got the Mariners off to an early lead with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning. In the bottom of the third inning, Franklin Gutierrez and Kyle Seager hit back-to-back home runs to give starter Blake Beavan a 3-0 lead.

Beavan held the Red Sox scoreless until the sixth inning, when Boston scored all four of their runs. Cody Ross belted a three-run homer to tie things up and Ryan Lavarnway added a solo shot with two outs to give the Red Sox the lead.

Despite the reputation of the Boston bullpen, the Mariners were unable to eke out any more runs in the loss.Eric Thames hit a two-out triple in the bottom of the ninth but Kyle Seager was unable to bring him home.

The M's will try for the series win in the rubber game on Wednesday.
