Mariners Vs. Rangers, Game Preview: M's Eye Series Sweep On Sunday

After taking the first two games of their series with the Texas Rangers, the Seattle Mariners are looking to complete the sweep of the first place Texas Rangers on Sunday at Safeco Field.

The Mariners will send Jason Vargas (14-10, 3.92) to the mound, who has won just one of his last five starts while posting a 6.35 ERA during that span. Vargas has been better at home lately, owning a 5-4 record with a 2.62 ERA at Safeco, including a 3-1 mark with a 2.06 ERA in the last six played there.

Texas will counter with Ryan Dempster (6-2, 4.70 ERA), who was roughed up in his last outing. He allowed five runs, six hits and three walks in just 3.1 innings of work on Tuesday en route to a 11-3 loss to the Angels. Dempster is facing Seattle for only the second time, with his last coming on July 22, 2010, a 2-0 loss to the Mariners.

First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT with coverage on Fox Sports Northwest and ESPN 710 AM.
