Rangers Vs. Mariners Game Recap: Seattle Silences Texas

The Seattle Mariners defeated the Texas Rangers 1-0 Saturday, their second win against the American League West division leader in two nights.

Mariners starting pitcher Blake Beavan logged seven scoreless innings, allowing eight hits while striking out two. Right-hander Josh Kinney followed up Beavan to record his ninth hold of the season, and Mariners closer Tom Wilhelmsen notched his 29th save with a perfect 9th inning.

Mariners left fielder Michael Saunders accounted for the game’s lone run in the second inning as he launched his 17th homer of the season.

Texas actually outhit Seattle, with Mitch Moreland being the only Ranger to notch two hits on the night. Kyle Seager, Jesus Montero and Justin Smoak each collected a pair of hits for the Mariners.
