Mariners Vs. Orioles Final Score: Seattle Has Bullpen Problems In 14-Inning, 8-7 Loss

The Seattle Mariners were hoping to even up their series against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday and try for a series win on Wednesday. For over six innings, it appeared as though the M's were on the way to doing just that. A shaky bullpen blew a four-run lead and Seattle eventually lost a marathon 14-inning affair, 8-7.

Kyle Seager hit a three-run, two-out (what else?) homer in the first inning to give the Mariners an early lead. A Miguel Olivo home run and an RBI single from Trayvon Robinson in the second inning quickly made it 5-0 Seattle. In the bottom of the second, a home run from Matt Wieters and an RBI single from Nick Markakis cut the Mariners lead to 5-2.

Mike Carp and Dustin Ackley hit RBI singles in the top of the sixth inning to give the M's a comfortable 7-2 lead. Matt Wieters hit another home run off of starter Blake Beavan in the bottom of the sixth to make it 7-3. The bottom of the seventh is when everything fell apart.

After giving up a leadoff double, Beavan was pulled and Lucas Luetge came on in relief. Unfortunately, Luetge immediately gave up an RBI single to Omar Quintanilla, a single to Markakis and a home run to J.J. Hardy that tied the game.

The score remained 7-7 for another seven innings, until the bottom of the 14th. The Mariners intentionally walked the bases loaded with one out, but Adam Jones was able to single to right field to finally send everyone home and give the Orioles the series win.
