All good things must come to an end. The Seattle Mariners came to Yankee Stadium riding a seven-game hitting streak, but ran into CC Sabathia and the rest of the New York Yankees as they took a 6-3 loss on Friday.
Curtis Granderson hit a two-run single off of Seattle starter Kevin Millwood in the third inning to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead. Casper Wells hit a solo home run in the fourth to cut that lead in half, but Eric Chavez launched a two-run homer off of Millwood in the sixth to make it 4-1 New York.
Robinson Cano and Raul Ibanez hit RBI singles in the seventh to make it 6-1. In the top of the ninth, Brendan Ryan walked to lead off the inning and Dustin Ackley followed up with a home run, but Seattle made three quick outs after that to end the game.
The M's will try to regroup on Saturday and even up the series.
