Seattle Mariners Vs. Cleveland Indians: John Jaso In At DH

The Mariners have gone 22-13 since the All-Star break, bizarrely forcing the team into wild-card consideration. In order to keep the world turning in the opposite direction, taking out the lowly Cleveland Indians is a virtual requirement.

The big news is that outside of a typo on the line-up card, the Mariners are benching Jesus Montero and putting in Saturday night's hero John Jaso as the designated hitter instead.

04. John Jaso, DH

05. Justin Smoak, 1B

06. Eric Thames, RF

07. Miguel Olivo, C

08. Trayvon Robinson, LF

Kevin Millwood takes the hill after having one of the best starts of his Mariners career, when he notched eight strikeouts in seven innings against the Tampa Rays only to come away with a very Mariners-like no-decision. Millwood is 4-10 on the year with a 4.28 ERA.

The Indians will be sending out a lineup of ex-Mariners, like they always do.

01. Jason Kipnis, 2B

02. Asdrubal Cabrera, SS

03. Shin-Soo Choo, RF

04. Carlos Santana, C

05. Michael Brantley, CF

06. Shelley Duncan, DH

07. Casey Kotchman, 1B

08. Ezequiel Carrera, LF

09. Jason Donald, 2B

The Indians are throwing Ubaldo Jimenez out on the mound as he tries to rebound from possibly his second-worst start of 2012. Jiminez only went four innings against the Los Angeles Angels, giving up eight earned runs in the process to raise his ERA to 5.62 on the year.
