2012 MLB Futures Game: Danny Hultzen Struggles In Third Inning

The Seattle Mariners have two representatives at the 2012 MLB Futures Game: Danny Hultzen and Taijuan Walker. Both of the young-and-upcoming pitchers are expected to pitch on Sunday, and Hultzen took his turn in the third inning. Pitching for Team USA, he didn't exactly throw as well as he would've liked to.

Hultzen allowed a run to score on three hits, increasing the World Team's lead to 4-0 at the time. He did strike out a batter, and his pitches were coming in hard on the radar gun. In a bit of promising news, 18 of the 19 pitches Hultzen threw were strikes. At this stage of his development, making sure he has full command of his pitches on the mound is an absolute must.

Walker is yet to make an appearance, but he is expected to pitch in the near future. We're currently tied 4-4 in the fourth inning. The game is currently being aired live on ESPN2, and can also be found online at ESPN3 and MLB.tv.
