Mariners Vs. Rays Final Score: Seattle Edges Out Tampa Bay 2-1 To Claim Series

The Seattle Mariners were once again able to lean on strong pitching and let early runs hold up in Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. The Mariners were able to play solid baseball over their past seven games and will head home with a 5-2 record on this road trip. Their two losses came by just one run.

Sunday's game began with Jesus Montero driving in Ichiro Suzuki with a double in the top of the first. The Rays tied things up 1-1 in the bottom of the inning with a two-out RBI single from Matt Joyce, but the M's answered right back in the top of the second with a two-out RBI double from Brendan Ryan.

Blake Beavan held the game at 2-1 for Tom Wilhelmsen, who allowed one hit in the ninth but picked up his 10th save. Beavan improved to 5-6 by holding the Rays to one run on four hits and no walks in eight innings. It was easily Beavan's best performance of the season.
