Mariners Vs. Royals Final Score: Felix Hernandez, Jesus Montero Power Seattle To 6-1 Win

It turns out that the Seattle Mariners just needed to take a little road trip to Kauffman Stadium to get their heads straight. The M's batters romped in their four-game series against the Kansas City Royals. Settle scored at least six runs in each of the games and took three of four after a 6-1 victory on Thursday.

Felix Hernandez was once again rock-solid, allowing just one run on eight hits and a walk in eight innings of work to improve to 8-5.

The Mariners scored three runs in the top of the second inning off of starter Will Smith, thanks to a Jesus Montero home run to lead off the inning, an RBI single from Michael Saunders and a Brendan Ryan sacrifice fly. Montero added another RBI single in the fifth to make it 4-0 Mariners.

Chris Getz drove in the lone Kansas City run in the bottom of the fifth with a single. Jesus Montero was not quite done padding the Mariners lead, as he drove in the last two runs of the game with a double in the seventh and a sacrifice fly in the ninth. Montero finished the game 3-for-4 with four RBI and finished atriple short of the cycle.
