Mariners Vs. Royals Final Score: Seattle Bats Stay Inexplicably Hot In 9-6 Win

For the second time in two days, the Seattle Mariners managed to drop nine runs on the Kansas City Royals in Kauffman Stadium. The M's assured themselves at least a split in the four-game road series on Tuesday afternoon with a 9-6 victory and their second straight win.

In the top of the first inning, Jesus Montero hit a two-out RBI double and Justin Smoak followed up with his 13th home run of the year to help Seattle jump out to a quick 3-0 lead. The M's tacked on another three runs in the second inning, with another Montero RBI hit and a two-out, two-run double from Kyle Seager.

The Royals cut the lead in half in the bottom of the third inning with RBI hits from Alex Gordon, Alcides Escobar and Billy Butler. The Mariners answered back in the top of the fifth with their third three-run inning of the game to make it 9-3, thanks to a Michael Saunders home run and an RBI triple from Dustin Ackley.

The Royals were not quite finished contributing three-run innings, as an RBI groundout from Chris Getz and Lorenzo Cain's first home run of the season brought the Royals to within three once again. Lucas Luetge and Tom Wilhelmsen pitched perfect eighth and ninth innings to seal the victory.

Blake Beavan, just recalled for the spot start, picked up the win to improve to 4-6.
