After an alright showing last night, speculation is still being fueled that Jason Vargas could be the second pitcher to leave in consecutive seasons after Doug Fister was traded to the Detroit Tigers last trade deadline.
Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe reported earlier this week that the Orioles, Blue Jays, Pirates, Cardinals, and Tigers have all expressed interest in Vargas.
Vargas is currently 9-7 with a 4.09 ERA in 20 starts, although his ERA is quite a bit higher away from the cozy confines of Safeco Field. Vargas also leads the league in home runs allowed at 25, but he is a proven innings eater that can put up quality numbers at the end of the rotation of a contending team.
