The Seattle Mariners managed to open up their three-game series against division rivals the Texas Rangers on Saturday. Behind the strength of their stellar ace Felix Hernandez, the M's managed to pile up a multitude of runs for a dominating (and thoroughly surprising) 7-0 win.
The Mariners picked up four big runs in the bottom of the first inning, thanks to a bases-loaded walk, an error and a two-run single by Kyle Seager. Dustin Ackley added an RBI double in the fourth inning, John Jaso hit a solo home run in the fifth and Michael Saunders had an RBI double in the seventh.
Hernandez picked up his seventh win and lowered his ERA to 2.92 with the complete game shutout, holding the Rangers to just three hits and no walks while striking out 12 batters.
