Mariners Vs. Padres Final Score: Seattle Drops Series With 2-0 Shutout Loss

The Seattle Mariners were gunning for a series win against the San Diego Padres on Sunday afternoon. While starter Hector Noesi turned in one of his better performances of the season in the rubber game of the three-game set, the Mariners bats disappeared in a shutout 2-0 loss.

All of the damage came in the bottom of the fourth inning. Noesi loaded the bases before recording the first out of the inning, after which Alexi Amarista hit a two-run ground-rule double that sealed the win for the Pads.

The Mariners had five hits and three walks in the game, but were just 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. The only extra-base hit of the game for the M's was a Kyle Seager double.

Noesi gave up seven hits and three walks in six innings of work, striking out six Padres batters along the way. His record now slips to 2-9 on the season.

With the loss, the Mariners are just 1-5 against the Padres in 2012.
