Mariners Vs. Angels Final Score: Seattle Shut Out In Opener, 3-0

The Seattle Mariners welcomed the Los Angeles Anges to Safeco Field on Thursday night for the opener of a big four-game series. Unfortunately, the Angels made themselves right at home, with Los Angeles starter Dan Haren shutting down the Mariners in a 3-0 victory for the visiting team.

Things went south right away as Mike Trout singled to lead off the game. Albert Pujols hit a home run with one out to make the score 2-0 Angels. The home run was the fifth of the year for Pujols.

The Angels tacked on an insurance run in the top of the sixth, when Kendrys Morales hit an RBI single that plated Pujols.

The Mariners struck out a whopping 14 times and didn't walk once against Haren, who picked up the win on a complete game shutout with ease.

Jason Vargas turned in a quality start for the Mariners once again in a losing effort, giving up three runs on seven hits and no walks in seven innings of work.
