The Seattle Mariners made two moves today. They reactived outfielder Mike Carp, who tweeted the news earlier today. Carp has been out over a month since March 29th with a sprained shoulder he sustained in the opening game in Japan. Carp will probably spend a lot of time at designated hitter to try and bolster Seattle's offense. Carp hit .276 last year and had 46 RBIs and 12 home runs.
The Mariners then sent catcher Miguel Olivo to the disabled list. Olivo strained his groin against Tampa. Jesus Montero will be seeing more of the catching duties until Olivo heals up. Olivo has been struggling with the bat, producing splits of .210/.229/.346, so this could be a chance for Montero to show off his stuff.
