The Seattle Mariners had a hell of a week last week. They swept the Detroit Tigers on the road as their bats came alive unexpectedly and with a vengeance. They stayed hot in their first game against the Toronto Blue Jays, as Michael Saunders contributed some extra-inning heroics with a grand slam. The M's came crashing down to earth on Saturday and Sunday, as they were outscored 14-2 in Toronto.
On Monday, the Mariners kick off a four-game series at Tropicana Field against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays are in first place in the AL East, so hopefully Seattle can deal with this first-place team the same way they dealt with Detroit. Keep your fingers crossed, M's fans, this one could be rough.
Probable Pitchers & Television Information:
On Monday, ace Felix Hernandez will take the bump for the Mariners and will look to improve upon his 2-1 record and 2.48 ERA. He'll face off against Jeremy Hellickson, who is 3-0 and currently holds a 2.84 ERA. This may very well be the best pitching matchup in baseball over the next four days. The game will begin at 7:05 p.m. PT and will be televised on FOX Sports West. You can find the radio broadcast on KLAA 830 AM.
Tuesday's game will see Hector Noesi look to get back on the good side of Seattle fans, as he takes his 1-2 record and 8.83 ERA into the second game of the series against Matt Moore, who is 0-1 with an ERA of 4.68. The game will begin at 4:10 p.m. PT and will be televised on ROOT Sports. You can find the radio broadcast on ESPN 710 AM.
On Wednesday, Blake Beavan will draw a tough assignment as his opponent will be the 4-0 James Shields, whose 3.31 ERA will likely prove unhittable for the M's. The game will begin at 4:10 p.m. PT and will be televised on ROOT Sports. You can find the radio broadcast on ESPN 710 AM.
In the finale on Thursday, Kevin Millwood will once again search for his first win of the season. His counterpart will be Jeff Niemann, who has a 1-3 record but sports a nifty 3.86 ERA. The game will begin at 10:10 a.m. PT and will be televised on ROOT Sports. You can find the radio broadcast on ESPN 710 AM.
