Mariners Vs. Athletics Final Score: Seattle Evens Series With 4-0 Win

The Seattle Mariners hosted the Oakland Athletics on Saturday night at Safeco Field. The game was the sixth of the year between the two teams in the young season and the Mariners managed not only to even up the series at one win apiece but pick up their first Safeco Field victory of 2012 on a final score of 4-0.

The M's got on the board in the bottom of the second inning on a solo home run by Jesus Montero, his first homer as a member of the Mariners. That was the first hit of the game for the Mariners and they would not record another until the bottom of the sixth inning, when Brendan Ryan and Chone Figgins hit one-out singles. Dustin Ackley walked to load the bases and Ichiro Suzuki popped up for the second out. Justin Smoak drew a walk to bring Ryan home and Montero struck once again, hitting a two-run double to cap off a three-run Mariners inning.

Hector Noesi had a start for Seattle that was the polar opposite of his last outing. He went eight innings, giving up no runs on five hits and a walk. Brandon League came on for the ninth inning and picked up another save, combining with Noesi for the shutout.
