Mike Curto To Call Part Of Wednesday's Seattle Mariners Game

Tacoma Rainiers broadcaster Mike Curto finally received his callup to the big leagues, according to a report on Monday. The Seattle Mariners have been using a rotating cast of characters this season to fill the void left by Dave Niehaus' passing. But Curto had yet to receive the call many of us have been waiting for, at least until now.

The Tacoma New Tribune's Ryan Divish, who penned this excellent argument for Curto's callup, reported the Rainiers broadcaster will call some of the Mariners game on Wednesday.

Curto will call the game on the radio, and it appears to be on a trial basis. The Rainiers have said they'll accommodate his schedule and work around his opportunities to broadcast with the Mariners. Curto will reportedly call the third, sixth and seventh inning alongside Rick Rizzs.

Congratulations to Curto for his callup. He deserved this and it will be a pleasure listening to him work. Hopefully we'll be hearing more of him on Mariners broadcasts in the future, but this is an excellent start.
