Jose Bautista Solo Homer Inches Blue Jays Past Mariners, 1-0

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Jose Bautista accounted for the only offense with his 50th home run of the season, as the Toronto Blue Jays edged the Seattle Mariners and ace Felix Hernandez, 1-0, in the rubber match of a three- game series at Rogers Centre.

Travis Snider had the only other hit for Toronto, which has won four of its last six.

The 29-year-old Bautista became the first player to reach 50 home runs since Milwaukee's Prince Fielder hit 50 and the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez clubbed 54 in 2007. Bautista had never hit more than 16 homers in any of his six previous seasons.

Shawn Hill (1-2) allowed four hits and one walk while striking out seven over five innings to take the victory. Kevin Gregg threw a scoreless ninth to register his 35th save of the season.

The game also saw Seattle Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki record his 200th hit of the season.  Ichiro has now recorded 200 hits in 10 straight seasons.
