Macklemore Records Dave Niehaus Tribute Rap

Seattle hip hop artist Macklemore put together a tribute to Dave Niehaus, released earlier this week on his website. The song features Macklemore rapping about growing up listening to Niehaus, with clips of the Hall of Fame broadcaster spliced in between. It's an excellent song and a job well done by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

Macklemore said he felt the need to write about Niehaus because of how the announcer shaped his past. It's a way to introduce Niehaus to his fans outside of the Northwest and honor the broadcasting, and Seattle, legend.

Dave Niehaus was not only the voice of the Seattle Mariners, he was the voice of my childhood. Some of my most prized memories, growing up as a kid, are accompanied with his voice narrating the moment. He was more than just another radio announcer. His on-air personality was so genuine, that you had a sense of who the man was and what he stood for, by simply listening to him call a game.
