Fans began filling Safeco Field as the gates opened at noon Saturday morning in preparation for the Dave Niehaus Celebration Of Life Memorial set to take place at 1:10 p.m. The timing of the memorial is significant and meant to coincide with the typical first pitch of a Saturday afternoon game at Safeco. Fans braved the cold this morning as they waited in line to pay their respects to Niehaus, with an impressive line wrapping-around Safeco Field in anticipation of the home plate gates opening.
In the Seattle area, the memorial can be seen on KOMOTV, channel four in Seattle, FSN and heard on 710 ESPN. To stream the 710 ESPN radio broadcast, visit MyNorthwest.com.
For those unable to attend of watch the broadcast on television, MLB.com is streaming the event live on its website. The video, set to begin at 12:45 can be found here. There will be about 30 minutes of pre-ceremony footage and tributes before the memorial begins at 1:10 p.m.
