Bobby Valentine, long rumored to be in the running for the Seattle Mariners manager job, interviewed with the M’s yesterday in Seattle. The former Mets manager was in town to discuss the position with general manager Jack Zduriencik.
Seattle Times columnist Larry Stone confirmed the interview while also adding a name to the mix yesterday.
Two new pieces of news on the Mariners’ managerial front this morning from sources: Bobby Valentine (pictured above from 2005 in the Japan Series) interviewed yesterday in Seattle with general manager Jack Zduriencik and other Mariners’ officials, and former Pirates manager Lloyd McClendon will be in town this week to interview.
Stone also surmises that Tony Larussa could be in the running, depending on what happens in St. Louis this offseason. The Mariners may also be taking a look at candidates currently involved in a postseason run.
