At 9-5, the Seattle Seahawks control their playoff destiny, but a win against rival San Francisco would not only clinch a playoff berth for Seattle, it would also keep them alive in the race for the NFC West.
The 10-3-1 49ers can clinch the NFC West with a win in either of their final two games, but winning at Seattle has proven to be a difficult task so far this season. The Seahawks are 6-0 at home this season including wins over playoff bound teams like New England and Green Bay.
The teams will square off on Sunday Night Football in what should be a physical contest. San Francisco and Seattle are built similarly with stout defenses and strong running games. Both teams allow 15.6 points per game, tied for the best in the league. San Francisco ranks second in the league in rushing yards per game while Seattle is third in the league.
The matchup will also feature two of the most exciting young quarterbacks in the NFL. Seattle's Russell Wilson has thrown 11 touchdowns to just one interception over his six games. On the opposite side, Colin Kaepernick is 4-1 since taking over as the 49ers starting quarterback.
San Francisco beat Seattle 13-6 earlier this season in what may have been Wilson's worst game of the year. Wilson has posted a passer rating of at least 88.0 in the seven games since the first meeting.
