The Seattle Seahawks placed defensive lineman Jason Jones on the injured reserve on Thursday and promoted defensive tackle Hebron Fangupo to the active roster. Fangupo had been on the practice squad for a couple of months prior to the promotion.
The 26-year-old Jones is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, which means the five-year pro might have played his last game in a Seahawks uniform.
Jones tallied 11 tackles, three sacks, four tipped passes, three quarterback hits and one fumble recovery in 12 games for Seattle this season. With Jones shelved for the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs, it is possible that Greg Scruggs could see an uptick in his playing time.
Fangupo was added to the practice squad earlier this season after signing with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent and failing to catch on. The USC alum has been reunited with former Trojans head coach Pete Carroll in Seattle.
The Seahawks also added undrafted free agent wide receiver Bryan Walters to the practice squad on Thursday morning.
