For the second straight start, Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez was roughed up. The Toronto Blue Jays managed to avoid being swept at home as they touched Hernandez for seven earned runs in an 8-3 win on Thursday.

The Blue Jays scored two quick runs off of King Felix in the bottom of the first inning on a two-out Adam Lind home run. The Mariners rallied back to tie the game in the top of the second inning with a two-run Carlos Peguero double, but the M's weren't able to hold things there.

The Jays managed to pick up five runs in a big fourth inning, all of them coming off of Hernandez and all with two outs. Brett Lawrie drove in two runs with an RBI single to make it 4-2 and Edwin Encarnacion hit a three-run homer -- his 40th of the season. Felix ended up serving up 10 hits and a walk in just four innings of work.

Jeff Mathis drove in the eighth Toronto run with an RBI single in the fifth inning. The Mariners managed just one more run, on a Dustin Ackley homer in the seventh inning. The home run was Ackley's 11th of the season.

The Seattle Mariners will turn to their ace Felix Hernandez, as they try to close out a three-game sweep against the Blue Jays in Toronto on Thursday night.

Hernandez (13-7, 2.67 ERA), who was named A.L. Pitcher Of The Month for August, is off to a bit of a slow start in the month of September with a record of 0-2, and an ERA of 6.75 in 12 innings of work. He'll look to rebound against a Jays offense that has sputtered in the first two games of the series.

The Blue Jays will counter with right-hander, Henderson Alvarez (8-12, 4.95 ERA). Alvarez has also struggled on the hill recently, posting a record of 2-3 with a 6.92 ERA in his last five starts.

The M's held off the Blue Jays 3-2 in last night's contest, behind a workmanlike outing from starter Kevin Millwood and four solid innings from the bullpen.

Game time is slated for 4:07 p.m. PT at Rogers Centre, and will be televised on ROOT Sports.

For the second straight day, the Seattle Mariners managed to hang on to an early lead against the Toronto Blue Jays. The M's picked up a 3-2 victory on Wednesday evening to secure the series win. They'll go for the three-game sweep on Thursday.

Miguel Olivo got the Mariners on the board in the second inning with a solo home run; his 10th of the year. In the top of the fourth, Franklin Gutierrez hit a two-out, two-run single to make it 3-0. The Blue Jays answered back in the bottom of the inning with a two-run upper-deck homer from Edwin Encarnacion. The blast was the 39th of the season for Encarnacion and it cut the Seattle lead to one run.

Luckily, Kevin Millwood and the Mariners bullpen were able to make that lead hold up. Millwood allowed two runs on two hits and a walk in five innings of work, but the rest of the Seattle bullpen only allowed a pair of walks over the final four innings.

The Seattle Mariners hung on to win game one of their series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night, looking to start a winning streak on Wednesday at the Rogers Centre.

Veteran Kevin Millwood (5-12, 4.27) gets the start for Seattle, who has turned around his terrible August (0-4, 5.97 ERA) with a great outing against Boston in his last start. He gave up just one run on four hits in six innings en route to a 2-1 victory. Millwood gave up up three runs in seven innings in his last start against Toronto in April, though the M's fell 7-0.

Toronto will send out Ricky Romero (8-13, 5.85 ERA) who has dropped his last 13 decisions and was skipped in the rotation after his last start. He gave up seven runs in the first inning against the Rays, getting yanked there after for the shortest outing of his career. Romero currently has the AL's worst ERA amongst qualifying starters, and a league high 90 walks this season.

Seattle has won the last four meetings with Toronto this season.

First pitch is set for 4:07 p.m. PT with coverage on Root Sports and ESPN 710 AM.

The Seattle Mariners were hoping to get their three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays started on a winning note and they did just that on Tuesday evening. The Mariners grabbed an early lead at the Rogers Centre and hung on for the eventual 4-3 win.

Kyle Seager and Michael Saunders both hit RBI singles in the top of the first inning to stake Seattle to a quick 2-0 lead. Yunel Escobar answered back with an RBI single of his own in the bottom of the first to cut the Mariners lead to 2-1.

John Jaso hit an RBI single in the top of the third to make it 3-1 Mariners but Toronto kept pace with another run in the bottom of the frame, thanks to a Colby Rasmus sacrifice fly.

Seager led off the fifth inning with his 18th home run of the year -- a run that ended up being the difference in the game. The Blue Jays picked up one last run in the bottom of the eighth on a ground out but that would be the last gasp for the home team.

Erasmo Ramirez picked up his first win by holding the Jays to two runs on six hits and a walk in seven innings of work.

The Mariners will head north of the border on Tuesday for a three-game series against the Blue Jays. The M's could use a series win.

The Seattle Mariners caught a rough break over the weekend as they were swept in three straight games by the Oakland Athletics at Safeco Field. The Mariners now kick off a road series on Tuesday with a three-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays have been plagued by injuries all season long -- most notably to their pitching staff. They are still a formidable team and Edwin Encarnacion has stepped up as a fearsome masher while Jose Bautista is out for the season with a wrist injury. The Blue Jays have a four-game winning streak going and should never be underestimated.

TV Schedule & Probable Pitchers

Tuesday's game will begin at 4:07 p.m. PT and will be televised on ROOT Sports. You can catch the radio broadcast on ESPN 710. Erasmo Ramirez will be making his first start since being recalled. He is 0-2 with a 3.69 ERA. He will face Brandon Morrow, who is 8-5 with a 2.94 ERA.

Wednesday's first pitch will be at 4:07 p.m. PT and the game will be televised on ROOT Sports. You can catch the radio broadcast on ESPN 710. Kevin Millwood finally picked up that elusive fifth win his last time out and will be trying for two in a row. He'll face Ricky Romero, who figured to be the Toronto ace before the season but has gone just 8-13 with a 5.85 ERA.

Thursday's finale gets started at 4:07 p.m. PT and will be televised on ROOT Sports. You can catch the radio broadcast on ESPN 710. Felix Hernandez will try to regroup after giving up six runs to the A's in his last outing. His opponent on the mound will be Henderson Alvarez, who will enter the game with a 8-12 record and 4.95 ERA.
