No. 11 Marquette stayed undefeated, thanks to a Jae Crowder game-winning shot.

The senior forward nailed a corner three-pointer with seven seconds left in the Golden Eagle's 79-77 victory over the Washington Huskies at Madison Square Garden Tuesday night.

Darius Johnson-Odom led Marquette (8-0) with 23 points, 4 rebounds and five assists. Despite the gaudy numbers, a missed free throw by Johnson-Odom gave the Huskies the basketball with 30 seconds left.

Down 77-76, Ross received the ball in the post and made a turnaround bank shot with 19 seconds remaining. The Golden Eagles responded with Crowder's three-pointer and the Huskies' Abdul Gaddy missed a desperation shot at the buzzer sealing his team's fate.

Washington (4-3) has now lost three of their last four games, with all three being away from their homecourt. And things don't get easier for the Huskies as they'll stay in New York at the Madison Square Garden and face No. 7 Duke on Saturday morning.

Ross led the Huskies with 19 points and 9 rebounds, the sophomore had a couple of highlight dunks including a 360 baseline slam in the second half.

The two teams fought the entire game with neither being able to go on a significant run and take full control. Washington's largest lead was nine points at the 15 minute mark.

Washington pulled down 43 rebounds to Marquette's 31, but Marquette's grinding offense offset the Huskies' rebounding edge. The Golden Eagles made it to the free-throw line 27 times, converting 19 of them. Washington was 5-for-10 from the line.

C.J. Wilcox poured in 15 points for the Huskies and ignited their offense in the second half. The Huskies had a tough time penetrating and scoring against a staunch Marquette defense the entire game.

Washington looks to bounce-back and shake off a disappointing loss in Saturday's game against nationally ranked Duke.

The Washington Huskies and the Marquette Golden Eagles are in a tight game at the Madison Square Garden in New York at the Jimmy V. Classic.

The Huskies raced out to an 11-2 lead in the first four minutes of play, behind three three-pointers. Washington has benefited from three-point shooting, hitting 4-of-11 in the first half. Senior forward Darnell Gant leads the Huskies with ten points, with two three-pointers. Darius Johnson-Odom leads his team with 13 points, with Todd Mayo also adding in eight points for the Golden Eagles.

Neither team has gotten into an offensive rhythm. Both Marquette and Washington turned the ball over nine times. Washington's 2-3 zone slowed down Marquette's offense at the start of the first half, but the Golden Eagles were able to dig themselves out of the Huskies' early lead.

Washington's guards have continued to struggle; point guard Abdul Gaddy collected two fouls and is scoreless, while Tony Wroten has turned the ball over two times.

Moritz, 33, was a walk-on player from 1996-99 who played on two NCAA tournament teams. He was diagnosed in 2008 with his disease and only given a few months to live. He spent the past three years fighting cancer with the same spirit he showed on the basketball court.
