<p>With two seconds remaining and down eight points on the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/oregon-ducks">Oregon Ducks</a> 25-yard line, the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/wisconsin-badgers">Wisconsin Badgers</a> needed to throw one into the endzone and hope for the best. Instead, quarterback <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/5341/russell-wilson">Russell Wilson</a> spike the ball into the ground after the gameclock had expired, ending the game and handing the Ducks the 2012 Rose Bowl crown.</p>
<p>Oregon QB Darron Thomas was the statistical standout in a game that saw the Rose Bowl scoring record fall (83 combined points). Thomas threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-clinching TD pass to <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/77719/lavasier-tuinei">Lavasier Tuinei</a> at the start of the fourth quarter.</p>
<p><a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/37388/lamichael-james">LaMichael James</a> and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/136017/de-anthony-thomas">De'Anthony Thomas</a> blew up the Badger defense with a furious, two-headed rushing attack. James racked up 159 yards and a touchdown while Thomas bullied his way to 155 yards and two TDs.</p>
<p>Tuinei was named offensive MVP of the game for his 8 catch, 158 yard, two touchdown performance. Kiko Alonso was named defensive MVP for his interception and 1.5 sacks.</p>
<p>Heisman candidate <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/77778/montee-ball">Montee Ball</a> gathered 165 yards and a score in a losing effort for Wisconsin. QB Russell Wilson posted 296 yards and two touchdowns, though he also had a backbreaking interception.</p>
<p>Oregon finishes the season 12-2 while the Badgers end with a 11-3 record.</p>

<p>The record for most points scored in the Rose Bowl has officially been broken by the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/oregon-ducks">Oregon Ducks</a> and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/wisconsin-badgers">Wisconsin Badgers</a>. Specificially, you can thank Ducks QB Darron Thomas and his touchdown pass to <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/77719/lavasier-tuinei">Lavasier Tuinei</a> and Oregon's subsequent field goal by <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/113659/alejandro-maldonado">Alejandro Maldonado</a> for making it 45-38 and 83 total points, breaking the previous record of 80.</p>

That record is now toast and there's still a lot of time to play.</p>
<p>The Ducks are starting to take control of the game in the fourth quarter.Wisconsin had two quick drives early on and their most recent drive ended on an Oregon fumble recovery with three minutes to go. The Ducks can put it away now with a score here.</p>

<p>The <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/oregon-ducks">Oregon Ducks</a> received the ball out of halftime, and they didn't waste any time getting to work to put up points in the 2012 Rose Bowl. Oregon got a few nice runs from <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/37388/lamichael-james">LaMichael James</a> before <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/136017/de-anthony-thomas">De'Anthony Thomas</a> <a target="_blank" href="http://t.co/RHasMEN5">broke to daylight on the left side </a>and gave the Ducks their first lead, up 35-28.</p>
<p>Wisconsin then got a great kickoff return from <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/77770/jared-abbrederis">Jared Abbrederis</a> that put the Badgers deep in Oregon territory and got <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/77778/montee-ball">Montee Ball</a> rushes of nine and 13 yards to set up a field goal attempt and cut the lead to 35-31. Oregon was forced to go three-and-out on the next drive, and the Badger conducted a methodical big drive. James White had some nice rushes to get Wisconsin across midfield, and then <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/5341/russell-wilson">Russell Wilson</a> had a huge 17 yard pickup to pick up a critical third down conversion. Wilson found <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/47807/bradie-ewing">Bradie Ewing</a>, Ball and then <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/7490/nick-toon">Nick Toon</a> for the go-ahead touchdown for the Badgers.</p>

<p>On the next drive, Oregon got a huge play from <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/37379/darron-thomas">Darron Thomas</a> connecting with <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/77719/lavasier-tuinei">Lavasier Tuinei</a>, but then on 3rd and long Thomas backpedalled and overthrew his receiver, bouncing it up and into the hands of Aaron Henry. Wisconsin looked to run clock, but Kiko Alonso anticipated a throw from Wilson and stepped right in for an interception.</p>

<p>The Black Mamba has touched the ball eight times. He has 273 all-purpose yards. His latest scamper was 64 yards long, and he flat-out jogged into the end zone the final 20 yards. <p>The <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/oregon-ducks">Oregon Ducks</a> had an impressive response down 14-7 when <a target="_blank" href="http://seattle.sbnation.com/2012/1/2/2677762/deanthony-thomas-black-mamba-oregon-vs-wisconsin-rose-bowl-2012">De'Anthony Thomas went scooting 91 yards at the end of the first quarte</a>r to tie things up with the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/wisconsin-badgers">Wisconsin Badgers</a>.</p>
<p>Wisconsin came right back, but they had another balanced drive when <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/5341/russell-wilson">Russell Wilson</a> found <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/7490/nick-toon">Nick Toon</a> for eight and 18 yards and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/77783/jacob-pedersen">Jacob Pedersen</a> for 17 yards. That set up another <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/77778/montee-ball">Montee Ball</a> rushing touchdown to give Wisconsin the lead.</p>
<p><iframe src="https://seattle.sbnation.com/videos/iframe?id=28203" frameborder="0" seamless="true" marginwidth="0" mozallowfullscreen="true" webkitallowfullscreen="true" name="28203-chorus-video-iframe"></iframe> <br id="1325548344675"></p>
<p>It took Oregon only two big plays to tie things up though, as the Black Mamba had a solid front <a target="_blank" href="http://seattle.sbnation.com/2012/1/2/2677810/darron-thomas-kenjon-barner-oregon-ducks-wisconsin-badgers">Darron Thomas and Kenjon Barner connected on a 54 yard touchdown to make it 21-all</a>. After Wisconsin was able to drive deep into Oregon territory, the Badgers got stopped on 4th and short.</p>
<p>The Wisconsin defense stepped up though, as Mike Taylor came unprotected off a blitz and blew up Thomas on a blind-side sack. <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/7575/louis-nzegwu">Louis Nzegwu</a> then scooped up the football and went into the end zone to give Wisconsin a 28-21 lead.</p>

<p>Oregon came right back with a solid two minute drill, as <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/37388/lamichael-james">LaMichael James</a> got a 29 yard rush, and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/37379/darron-thomas">Darron Thomas</a> connected with <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/77719/lavasier-tuinei">Lavasier Tuinei</a> and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/37397/david-paulson">David Paulson</a>. <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/113644/bryan-bennett">Bryan Bennett</a> also found Thomas on QB throwback pass, and Thomas then found Tuinei on a three yard TD catch.</p>
