Heading into this year's Civil War between the Oregon Ducks and the Oregon State Beavers, No. 10 Oregon was the heavy favorite. By the fourth quarter, the only question remaining was how large the margin of victory would be for the Ducks en route to their clinching of the Pac-12 North.

In all past meetings between the two teams, the largest margin of victory has been 44 points. At the outset of the final quarter of play on Saturday, the Ducks were on top by a score of 42-7 and looking to score again. The Beavers managed to stop Oregon on that drive, however, and later picked up another touchdown of their own to close the gap just a bit. On the kickoff following that touchdown, Oregon State's kicker Trevor Romaine was able to come up with a big tackle and force a fumble, giving the Beavers the ball right back at midfield with over six minutes left to play. On the first play of that drive, however, quarterback Sean Mannion was sacked and fumbled the ball right back to Oregon, as once again the Beavers saw their hopes dwindling. Oregon would score on an Ayele Forde rushing touchdown and run the score back up to 49-14.

Oregon State managed to pick up another touchdown with under three minutes left in the game, as Mannion completed a 23 yard pass to Brandin Cooks. Unfortunately for the Beavers, their fourth quarter scoring was too little, too late. They managed to avoid a historical blowout, however, and finished with a respectable final score against a top-ten division rival. The Ducks ultimately prevailed by a final score of 49-21.

The potent Oregon offense was able to let some key players shine in the game. Receiver David Paulson had a career day on his Senior Day, finishing with 105 yards on eight catches and a touchdown. Running back LaMichael James managed 141 yards on 24 carries and a touchdown before leaving the game with an injury. Quarterback Darron Thomas also had a solid game, finishing 25-for-38 with 294 passing yards and four touchdowns. Thomas was pulled in the fourth quarter in order for backup Bryan Bennett to get some snaps. Bennett finished with 10 rushing yards.

Sean Mannion put together a solid game of his own on the Beavers side of the ball, finishing 27-for-44 with 289 yards and three touchdowns, but also throwing two interceptions.

After a tough start to the game that saw Oregon State hanging around into the second quarter, the Oregon Ducks have asserted control in the 2011 Civil War, leading 42-7 midway through the fourth quarter. Quarterback Darron Thomas has put together one of his strongest performances of the season, with four touchdown passes on 294 yards passing.

The Ducks suffered a significant scare in the third quarter when star running back LaMichael James went down with a left arm injury. James was battling for yards inside the Oregon State ten yard line and as he was tackled he put out his left arm to brace his fall. Trainers put a big bag of ice on his left elbow, but it has since been removed. A shot of the Oregon sideline showed him with his arms crossed and no apparent artificial support needed for the elbow.

Given the Ducks rout at this point, Kenjon Barner has taken over the lead back role and currently has 16 carries on the day to James' 24 carries. Barner has rushed for one touchdown and caught another touchdown pass from Darron Thomas.

Editor's Update: LaMichael James has reportedly taken the ice pack off his left elbow.

The Oregon Ducks are rolling the Oregon State Beavers in the 2011 Civil War, but the victory could come with a price. Running back LaMichael James was rushing down inside the Oregon State ten yard line when he was tackled by linebacker Tony Wilson. As James went down he put out his left arm in an attempt to brace his fall. James grabbed at his arm with speculation revolving around his left wrist and left elbow. Once James went to the sideline, trainers wrapped a big bag of ice around his left elbow.

Earlier this season LaMichael James missed two games after dislocating his right elbow. There is no word yet if this injury is a dislocation or a slightly more basic hyperextension of the left elbow. As more information comes available, we'll post it. James left the game with 141 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Given the 35-7 Oregon lead, his day is likely done no matter the extent of the injury.

The 2011 Civil War has reached halftime and after a tough quarter and a half of action, the Oregon Ducks established their supremacy with a 21 points outburst over the final eight minutes of the second quarter. Oregon State tied the game 7-7 on a Jovan Stevenson catch and run and seemed ready to make a game of things. However, the explosive Oregon offense was not to be contained and now leads 28-7.

Darron Thomas keyed the second quarter explosion, connecting with his running backs and tight end on touchdown passes. Thomas struggled early in the game completing only 4 of 10 passes for 35 yards. However, in the second quarter, Thomas was 11 of 15 for 132 yards and three touchdown passes. He connected with tight end David Paulson on a 16-yard touchdown pass and then connected with De'Anthony Thomas for eight yards and Kenjon Barner for 16-yards to close out the half with a 28-7 lead.

Oregon needs to win the 2011 Civil War in order to clinch the Pac-12 North and furth solidify there chances of reaching the Rose Bowl. A loss means Stanford wins the Pac-12 North.
The 2011 Civil War has turned into an unexpectedly dramatic affair early in the second quarter. Sean Mannion threw a short dump-off pass to running back Jovan Stevenson and Stevenson turned it into a 58-yard touchdown pass. The game is tied 7-7 midway through the second quarter. Prior to the catch and run, Oregon State had accumulated 67 total yards of offense.

LaMichael James gave Oregon a 7-0 lead on a one-yard touchdown plunge. Oregon had several opportunities to build on that lead, but they could not capitalize on Oregon State mistakes. Sean Mannion threw two interceptions early in the game, but Oregon could only score on one of the turnovers. Other than that, the two sides exchanged punts throughout the first quarter.

The Oregon Ducks got their annual Civil War battle with the Oregon State Beavers off to a strong start, snagging an interception on the Beavers first drive and turning it into a 7-0 lead before three minutes had come off the game clock. Michael Clay intercepted a Sean Mannion pass, setting the Ducks up at the Oregon State 38. Two pass completions and four rushes later and the Ducks had the lead.

Oregon running back LaMichael James scored the touchdown on a one-yard plunge. The touchdown was James' 14th of the season. More importantly, he surpassed kicker Jared Siegel for first on the Ducks all-time scoring list. Kickers rank highly on these kinds of lists, so surpassing him is an excellent cap on what has been a stellar career for LaMichael James at Oregon. While he is unlikely to cap this season with the Heisman Trophy, his 2011 campaign is nothing to sneeze at.

The Civil War is seemingly always closely contested and both programs enter the game with most of their skill players ready to go. With a big crowd expected at Autzen Stadium and the Pac-12 North on the line, it should be a raucous environment in Eugene.

The big name on the injury report for the Oregon State Beavers is James Rodgers, who is questionable with a sprained ankle. The electric playmaker is a keystone piece for the OSU offense and his loss would be huge. Most believe he will play, but a wrong twist or turn could end his day quickly.

The Oregon Ducks have various injuries to their defensive unit, although they will have all of their offensive weapons at their disposal, including LaMichael James. Linebackers Boseko Lokombo and Dewitt Stuckey are both questionable for today's game, while DE Dion Jordan and CB Anthony Gildon may not play for undisclosed reasons.

The 2011 Civil War is here and it comes with huge Pac-12 and BCS implications.

With a win, the Oregon Ducks move onto the conference championship game, where they will be the heavy favorites to land a bid for the Rose Bowl. The Ducks are hungry to get back on the right track, especially after their devastating loss last weekend to USC. Should the Oregon State Beavers pull the huge road upset, they would knock UO out of the Pac-12 title game and potentially send them to a much lesser bowl game next month.

Start Time: Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. from Autzen Stadium.

TV Coverage: The game will be televised on ABC for most of the west coast, while others across the country can find the Civil War on ESPN2.

Weather Report: An overcast day is expected, but no rain is in the forecast. Expect temperatures in the mid-50's for what should be a nice afternoon for football.
