The Washington Huskies entered Memorial Coliseum on Saturday hoping to redeem last week's loss to the Oregon Ducks with a win against the USC Trojans. The game appeared even for a time, but the Trojans turned things on in the second quarter to create an insurmountable lead that became a 40-17 victory.

Washington struggled mightily in the first half, recording only 91 total yards of offense and only one field goal (a 46-yarder by Erik Folk). During that same time frame, the Trojans recorded two rushing touchdowns (a one-yard run by quarterback Matt Barkley and a one-yard run by Marc tyler), one passing touchdown (a nine-yard pass from Barkley to Marqise Lee) and a safety. The Huskies trailed 23-3 at halftime.

Things didn't get much better in the second half for Washington. USC opened the half with an 88-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Marquise Lee. Though the Huskies responded with a touchdown just three plays later on a one-yard run by running back Chris Polk, Trojans running back Curtis McNeal broke off a 79-yard run for a touchdown of his own to maintain a 37-10 edge.

Price suffered his fifth sack of the game on the following drive, and he left the game with a left knee injury. Price ended the game with only 125 passing yards on 12-of-16 passing and didn't see any further action following the third-quarter sack. Nick Montana filled in at signal-caller for the Huskies the rest of the way and ended the game with 73 yards and one touchdown on 9-of-15 passing.

After USC kicked a field goal to start the fourth quarter, Montana ended the period with a 20-yard pass to Kasen Williams. The two scores combined to give USC a 40-17 win for the Trojans.

With the loss, the Huskies fall to 6-4 on the season and 4-3 in the Pac-12. Washington takes on the Oregon St. Beavers on the road next week in their penultimate game of the season.

The Washington Huskies and USC Trojans picked things up in the third quarter as both teams made big plays. USC benefited more from the big plays with two scores in the period, and the Huskies enter the early part of the fourth quarter down 40-10.

Marquise Lee got things started in the third period with an 88-kickoff return. The Huskies countered with a three-play drive- including a 53-yard pass from quarterback Keith Price to Kevin Smith- that culminated with a three-yard rushing touchdown by Chris Polk.

USC came right back and scored in two plays behind the explosiveness of running back Curtis McNeal. McNeal broke off a 79-yard touchdown run as he eluded the safety down the field to push the lead to 37-10.

Price injured his left knee on a sack during Washington's following drive, and he was replaced by Nick Montana. Price has taken several hits during the course of the game, including a sack in the endzone in the second period for a safety- and he will not return.

Montana will lead the Huskies as the two teams play through the game's final period. The Huskies have the ball after an early field goal by the Trojans.

The Washington Huskies and USC Trojans are in the midst of a wild third quarter in Los Angeles. Nick Montana has come in to replace Keith Price with eight minutes left in the third quarter. According to Ryan Divish, Price has injured his left knee.

Price has been harassed on the field all day by the USC defensive front line. The Trojans recorded five sacks on Price through his two-and-a-half quarters of action, including one in the endzone for a second-quarter safety.

Price has taken hits to both his left and right knees, and the cumulative effect of several sacks seems to have worn him down over the course of the game. The last sack on Price roughly midway through the third quarter injured Price's left knee and caused him to leave the game. Price will not return.

Montana will close out the game for the Huskies. He will need to get things going in the passing game if Washington hopes to climb out of a 37-10 deficit.

The Washington Huskies fell further behind the USC Trojans in the second quarter and trail 23-3 at halftime. The Huskies will need a big second-half charge led by quarterback Keith Price in order to work their way back into the game.

Washington opened the second quarter by moving the ball to the USC 28-yard line. The Trojan defense made a stand, however, and the Huskies settled for a 46-yard field goal by Eric Folk to close within 7-3.

The Trojans countered with a long, 13-play drive that allowed USC to charge 80 yards down the field for a score. Marc Tyler rushed in a one-yard score to establish a 14-3 lead.

USC's defense got in on the scoring action on Washington's next possession. After starting on their own nine-yard line, the Huskies faced pressure and the Trojans eventually sacked Price in the endzone for a safety. Price appeared to injure his right knee on the sack, but he did return on the team's very next drive to eliminate doubts about his status.

After USC received the ensuing kickoff, Tyler and Curtis McNeal paved the way for the offense. Trojans quarterback Matt Barkley connected on a nine-yard pass to Marqise Lee to push USC's lead to 20 points at 23-3.

Washington's offense needs to pick things up in the second half if they hope to mount a comeback. Price has only 72 passing yards on 10-of-14 passing while Chris Polk leads the Washington rushing attack with 32 yards. The Huskies have been stuffed on several rushing attempts for negative yardage and enter halftime with only 91 total yards of offense.

USC will receive the kickoff to start the second half.

The Washington Huskies have struggled offensively in the early going against the USC Trojans. Through one quarter, the Trojans have a 7-0 lead.

The Huskies received the game's opening kickoff but failed to record a single first down until their foruth possession of the game late in the first quarter. Quarterback Keith Price has only 44 passing yards on 6-of-7 passing.

USC, meanwhile, had no trouble getting on the board. Quarterback Matt Barkley found receivers for big gains early and the Trojans managed to march down the field for a score on their second possession. Barkley ran in a one-yard score to give the Trojans a 7-0 advantage with 5:40 left in the period. Barkely has 85 passing yards on 5-of-7 passing.

Through one quarter, the Trojans have outplayed the Huskies. Washington is showing signs of life, however. The Huskies have moved the chains and are marching down the field at the start of the second quarter. They begin the second period at USC's 36-yard line.
