You know your team is in trouble when Russell Wilson is carving up your defense. The Badgers put up two impressive offensive drives in the second quarter. Wisconsin had two touchdowns on their two drives in the quarter. The Badgers put up an eight play, 51 yard drive that lasted over four minutes, capped off by Wilson throwing a fade to Nick Toon in the end zone for a 14-0 Badger lead.

After Jordan Bishop managed a nice catch in traffic from Sean Mannion for 32 yards, Oregon State was forced to punt. Wisconsin then marched 72 yards in twelve plays on a five minute drive that put Wisconsin firmly in control, as Wilson found Jacob Pederson for their second touchdown hookup. Wisconsin then took the opening drive of the third quarter 80 yards in 6 plays, and Monte Ball ran that ball straight through a tired Oregon State front seven. Ball finished the drive off with a 19 yard rush to the right to give the Badgers a seemingly insurmountable 28-0 lead.

After a slow first half start, Wilson currently has amassed a passer rating of 230.8, completing 13 of 15 passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns. Wilson has 133 yards overall, Oregon State 104. Mike Riley's quizzical quarterback substitutions are still in play. Mannion is 7 of 16 for 80 yards in relief, and starting quarterback Ryan Katz (perfectly healthy) completed his lone pass. The Beavers are in big trouble in Camp Randall.

So about that punt by Johnny Hekker in the Oregon State-Wisconsin game ...

(via Jk44linebacker)

If you watch the replay, you can see the mistake Johnny Hekker made on this punt to end all punts. Hekker was trying to attempt a rugby style punt to minimize the threat of a huge return, but it looks like the ball was misaligned with his foot. Hekker kept that ball straight ahead instead of making sure it was aligned with his leg. So the football was angled at about 30 degrees when Hekker took that ball up.

The Beavers punted from their own 18. The Badgers took over from Oregon State's 14. That's a net loss of four yards on the play there. The Badgers capitalized with a quick score to give them a 7-0 lead over the Beavers. They can thank Hekker's bad adjustment to the football for that. He's made up for it by booming most of the rest of his punts, but it's still not quite enough.

Both the Oregon St. Beavers and Wisconsin Badgers haven't been able to get their offenses going after one quarter. The only score came off a special teams miscue.

Oregon State has been going quarterback carousel all game long. Ryan Katz completed an eight yard pass to Markus Wheaton on the first play of the game, and then Katz rushed two yards to get an Oregon State first down. Katz was then replaced by Sean Mannion on the very next play, and Mannion then threw two incompletions to force an Oregon State punt. After Wisconsin went three-and-out, Oregon State gained approximately zero yards on the next drive and were forced to punt from their own 18.

Johnny Hekker then attempted a rugby-style punt that sailed a grand -4 yards (video coming, stay tuned!), Wisconsin then took over from Oregon State's 14, and Russell Wilson found Jacob Pedersen for a 17 yard touchdown on 3rd and 13. With both teams averaging less than four yards per play, that's about all the offense that's been produced up to this point.

The Oregon State Beavers will likely be without their best tailback on Saturday, as Malcolm Agnew injured his right hamstring and is listed as doubtful for the matchup with the Wisconsin Badgers.

So you're head coach Mike Riley of the Oregon St. Beavers. You just suffered one of the most embarrassing losses in program history when you fell apart to tiny Sacramento State at home in Corvallis. You have a quarterback controversy brewing because starter Ryan Katz looked pretty atrocious against an FCS defense. And now you're headed up to Camp Randall to face up with the top contenders for the Big Ten title, the eighth-ranked Wisconsin Badgers.

So how can your life get any better? Paul Buker of the Oregonian tells you just how.

So when freshman sensation tailback Malcolm Agnew felt a pop in his problematic right hamstring Tuesday, there was a suspicion we would see Agnew in street clothes this morning, limping into practice.

And sure enough, No. 35 has been shut down.

"I would term him as doubtful,'' said Riley.

Riley said Agnew was held out of "part of a practice'' in camp because his leg felt tight, "but yesterday, he pulled it.''

Well that's just great for the Beavers. If you haven't noticed, behind Agnew for running back at Oregon State is...well, almost nothing. Greyshirt freshman Terron Ward could be next in line. Ward didn't have get a single run carry in Saturday's game. Then there's Jordan Jenkins, who mustered up a grand five yards on three carries. After that we've got Jovan Stevenson and Ryan McCants; McCants just hasn't been able to live up to the promise that he showed early on in his career.

Oregon State's got running issues, which should only compound matters for Mike Riley when it comes to how well he can utilize Ryan Katz this Saturday.
