The Seattle Mariners are giving away Go Green fan trains on Friday night, which is a nice idea to encourage fans coming to Safeco Field to be environmentally friendly. Well, except this is what fans will receive.
↵

↵
As John Boyle noted, this is a train, wrapped in plastic and glued to a piece of cardboard. While the materials may be recyclable or something, the packaging is a bit ironic considering the message.
↵

The King's Court at Safeco Field has turned into the place to be in only its second game in existence. The first time out, a jester showed up in the court and on Thursday night, things took a turn for the weird, and awesome. At some point during the game, a man dressed as Larry Bernandez was presented with a turkey leg by a man dressed in full chef garb.

The Mariners (29-27) bats came alive in a 8-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays (29-27) on Thursday night at Safeco Field. Jack Cust, Carlos Peguero, and Justin Smoak combined for four home runs and six RBIs in four innings.

James Shields came into the game with a 2.15 ERA and came out of the game with a 2.77 ERA. The right-hander only lasted four innings, surrendering seven earned runs and seven hits.

The Mariners offense got things going in the bottom of the second inning. After a Jack Cust solo home run, Chone Figgins singled a ground ball to right field to score Franklin Gutierrez from second base. Carlos Peguero then hit a three-run home run to center field, bringing the Mariners lead to 5-0.

The Mariners extended their lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the third after an Adam Kennedy double that drove in Jack Cust. However, the Mariners offense was not done yet. In the bottom of the fourth inning, with no one on base, Carlos Peguero homered again, this time into left field. Two batters later, Justin Smoak hit a line drive shot to right field, his ninth home run of the year, capping the Mariners eight runs.

Felix Hernandez dominated the Rays lineup. King Felix struck out eleven and only gave up one earned run in seven innings of work. Aaron Laffey and Chris Ray pitched two scoreless innings in relief.

Ever wanted a bobblehead of Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready? You're in luck! Thanks to CCFA Night at Safeco Field, you can be the owner of this limited edition bobblehead with the purchase of a ticket to Friday night's Seattle Mariners game. As the Mariners host the Tampa Bay Rays, the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America will also be hosting a fundraiser through ticket sales, which include the limited edition bobblehead. It's not an official Mariners promotion -- that would be "Go Green" train night -- but by purchasing tickets through the CCFA's special offer, you can have your very own McCready bobblehead.

Here's a sneak peek of the bobblehead.

In all seriousness, this is a good cause, and if you're planning on going to Friday's game, I'd encourage doing so through the CCFA night at Safeco offer.
The Mariners (28-27) continue their homestand at Safeco Field with a four game series against the Tampa Bay Rays (29-26) starting Thursday night. Seattle is looking to win its sixth straight series, in a streak that started with a two game sweep over their division rivals, the LA Angels, back in mid-May.

On the mound for the Mariners is their ace, Felix Hernandez (5-4 3.19 ERA). Hernandez was roughed up in his last start against the Yankees. In Saturday's game, Hernandez pitched seven innings, but surrendered four earned runs, walked five and gave up six hits.

Hernandez's 81 strikeouts is currently tied for the most in the American League with James Shields of the Tampa Bay Rays. Shields (5-3 2.15 ERA) will get the start for the Rays.

The Mariners who rank last in team batting average in the major leagues will have their hands full against the six-year veteran. Shields currently holds the third best ERA in the American League at 2.15. He has gone seven innings or more in all but one of his ten starts so far this season.
