The Washington Huskies were looking to make a big splash in the first game at a renovated Husky Stadium in 2013, reportedly trying to bring in a BCS-type opponent. On Wednesday, the Huskies announced that opponent would be Boise State, a non-BCS school that's seen its share of BCS success over the last few years. The Broncos will head to Husky Stadium in September of 2013, christening the new and improved stadium when it reopens.

The news was announced by Washington on Wednesday, and passed along by the Seattle Times Bob Condotta.

Washington will head to Boise for the return trip in the home-and-home series in 2015.

It's the second Washington team the Broncos will play over the next decade. Starting in 2016, the Washington State Cougars and Boise State Broncos will also play a home-and-home series. The Cougars head to Boise in 2016 before the Broncos return the favor in 2017.

Renovations at Husky Stadium are set to begin ahead of the Apple Cup in 2011, with the Huskies moving to Qwest Field to end the 2011 season. Washington will set up shop at Qwest Field in 2012, as well, before returning to a renovated stadium to play host to the Broncos in the 2013 home-opener.

The renovations were approved in late-2010, with regents giving the green light to a $250 million bid that will replace the lower bowl while removing the track and lowering the field. Premium seating, including luxury boxes and club seats, are also built into the proposal.
