It’s only a matter of time before the Boise State Broncos jump into third place in the BCS rankings. After an easy win over Fresno State this week, the Broncos closed the gap on No. 3 TCU, sitting just .0135 points behind the Horned Frogs. A Friday night matchup against No. 18 Nevada awaits BSU and a win should vault them past TCU.

Oregon and Auburn remained at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively in this week's BCS rankings. Both teams were on a bye this week and return to action with matchups against top-25 teams next week. Auburn battles the Alabama Crimson Tide in a pivotal Iron Bowl matchup while Oregon hosts the No. 21 Arizona Wildcats.

Joining Oregon in the rankings were Arizona, at No. 21, and the Stanford Cardinal, at No. 6 again this week. The Cardinal are just over four hundredths of a point behind No. 5 LSU. With two games to go, the top three teams in the Pac-10 continue to make a strong showing in the BCS rankings.

Only a slip-up against either Oregon State or Arizona will keep the Ducks out of the BCS national championship game this year. The Ducks have all but assured themselves of a Pac-10 title, but at this point Oregon has its sights set on a bigger prize. Stanford is in a prime position to snag a second BCS bowl bid, should they win out. A traditional Rose Bowl pairing, pitting a Pac-10 team against a Big Ten team, would be the ideal situation for not only the Cardinal, but the Pac-10 as a whole.

The USA Today Coaches Poll fell in line with the AP Poll again this week, ranking the Ducks No. 1 for the sixth week in a row. Oregon, idle this week, still sits in the driver’s seat on the road to the BCS National Championship Game. The Auburn Tigers, also idle, remained at No. 2 with a 57-point cushion over Boise State. TCU and Wisconsin rounded out the top 5.

Oklahoma State and Michigan State each moved up one place after Nebraska fell out of the top 10 with a loss. The Cowboys and Spartans sit at No. 9 and No. 10 respectively, well behind No. 8 Stanford.

Three Pac-10 teams were in the top 25 yet again this week. The Stanford Cardinal held onto the No. 8 spot, just four points behind No.7 Ohio State. The Arizona Wildcats moved up three spots to No. 20 this week, as well. No other Pac-10 teams received votes this week.

The USA Today Poll, one-third of the BCS rankings, gives us a pretty clear picture of how the BCS standings will play out this week. Barring a shocker, Oregon should remain at No. 1, with Auburn close on the Ducks’ heels at No. 2. The Ducks and Tigers control their own destiny in the race to the BCS National Championship Game.

Another week, another No. 1 ranking for the Oregon Ducks. The Ducks topped the AP Top 25 for the sixth straight week this week, staying at the top while on a bye. Oregon was followed by Auburn, Boise State, TCU and Wisconsin, who jumped the LSU Tigers in the rankings this week. The Badgers held a slim lead for the No. 5 spot, only two points up on LSU.

Nebraska fell the farthest this week with a loss to Texas A&M. In a field goal fest, the Huskers came up short, losing to TAMU, 9-6. With the loss, Nebraska fell seven spots to No. 16. Oklahoma State jumped into the top 10 with a dominating 48-14 win over Kansas.

Oregon was joined by two other Pac-10 teams this week after USC fell out of the rankings with a loss to the Oregon State Beavers yesterday. Stanford stayed at No. 7 in the AP Poll with an easy win over Cal in the Big Game, 48-14. Arizona, also on a bye, moved up three spots to No. 20 this week. Oregon State also received one vote in the rankings.
