Kasey Keller made a great save in the 85th minute, denying Chicago the opportunity to take the lead. Good thing, too, because Seattle spent the last 20 minutes or so of the match constantly threatening the Fire goal, but never managing to put the ball in the net.

Blaise Nkufo and Alavaro Fernandez could really do nothing but laugh as they both managed to repeatedly miss their attempts on goal. Nate Jaqua, brought in for Nkufo at the 82nd minute, seemed to have picked up the same condition, coming close to goal at least twice but failing to put the ball in.

Thankfully, salvation came in the 92nd minute, when Nate Sturgis, of all people, sent a cross in to Fredy Montero, who was unmarked at the far post. Montero headed it into the net to bag a brace in the match, giving him 10 goals on the year.

To put a post-script on the night’s drama, Freddie Ljungberg showed class and integrity after the match had finished. Ljungberg embraced many of his former teammates before signing autographs and giving his jersey to a lucky fan.

A great comeback brings Seattle a well-deserved three points and takes them up to fifth place in the MLS standings.

Seattle ties up the game on a beautiful pass through from Tyson Wahl. Fredy Montero collects just outside the box and sends a stunner into the net.

This match almost feels like a playoff or cup game, such is the atmosphere. The crowd wouldn’t stop applauding Montero after he sent in the leveler.

Penalty given to Chicago for Jeff Park handling the ball in the area. However, the ball hit his hand, rather than his hand hitting the ball. Small distinction? No -- penalties aren't supposed to be given for balls hitting the hand.

The atmosphere in Qwest Field tonight is electric. Freddie Ljungberg has been booed each time he has touched the ball. Fredy Montero earned a yellow in the 28th minute for what was essentially a shove against Ljungberg. Everything that needs to be known about the relationship between the two could be seen in that push.

Freddie Ljungberg returns to Seattle tonight as the Chicago Fire face the Sounders at Qwest Field. While the Sounders may have barely flinched at Ljungberg's leaving, welcoming in Alvaro Ferndandez as their newest DP, the Fire certainly haven't been hampered by the addition of the Swede, who is playing in a more forward position than he assumed in Seattle.

The teams meet tonight fighting for a playoff spot, with Seattle standing in fifth in the West, and Chicago at fourth in the East. The Sounders however, are seventh overall, while the Fire are in ninth.

Although the Sounders fell to Monterrey 2-0 in their midweek CONCACAF Champions League match, they remain undefeated in their last six league matches. Chicago lost 4-3 to Houston last week, ending a three game unbeaten streak that had began when Ljungberg joined the team. Can Ljungberg bring more luck to his new team against his former squad?

Freddie has more freedom to roam in his new role at Chicago. There's none of that stodgy 4-4-2 showing up when the Fire take the field--instead, Ljungberg roams just behind the traditional striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Throwing this formation up against the Sounders typical 4-4-2 could already result in a few problems, but one of the biggest worries is that Seattle is missing a key defender. Leo Gonzalez is out due to an unfair red card shown in the last league match, against Chivas USA. Although referee Prus has since come out and said that the card was a mistake, it has not been rescinded and Gonzalez won't be on the pitch. Instead, the Sounders will likely field Zach Scott, a noticeable downgrade in quality.

Steve Zakuani, out with an injury for the past two weeks, is expected to play, but he likely will not start. Instead Sanna Nyassi will be on the right wing, with Fernandez on the left and Osvaldo Alonso in central midfield. Blaise Nkufo and Fredy Montero will lead the attack while Patrick Ianni, Jeff Parke and James Riley are expected to round out the defense.
