The breakout star of the 2012 U.S. Open was indisputably Beau Hossler. The 17-year-old high school amateur the made the cut and entered Sunday's final round with a legitimate shot of winning the whole thing. Of course, the U.S. Open title went to Webb Simpson, but Hossler will be around for many years to come and is in line to rake it in when he finally goes pro. Sponsors are likely already planning out how to court the teenager.
But for now, Hossler is not allowed to earn any money from his weekend at the U.S. Open. Simpson, meanwhile, will earn $1.44 million for his Grand Slam win.
