Tiger Woods had taken sole possession of first place atop the leaderboard at the 2012 U.S. Open earlier Friday afternoon with a little help from a birdie on the par 3 No. 3. That had pushed him to 2-under overall and 1-under for Friday and into the lead past Day 1 leader Michael Thompson. Unfortunately for Woods, that lead wouldn't hold.
Woods went on to bogey holes 5, 6, and 7 and drop out of the lead, currently at +2 for the day and +1 on the tournament. He is through 9 at The Olympic Club, tied for third, currently trailing leaders Beau Hossler, at -1 through 12, Jim Furyk, -1 through 2 rounds, John Peterson, and Nicolas Colsaerts, Graeme McDowell, and Michael Thompson, who all finished the day +1 overall.
