Boeing Classic 2011 Leaderboard: Hale Irwin Hits A Hole-In-One, Is Tied For Lead

The legendary Hale Irwin is currently tied for the lead the 2011 Boeing Classic at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge through 9 holes, and got to the top of the leaderboard by hitting a hole-in-one off the 9th tee. Irwin had played steadily today, notching birdies on hole two and and then again at hole eight to sit at 2-under after 8. The shot of the day, and likely the tournament, pushed him to 4-under.

The ninth hole is known as Screaming Eagle, and is described by TPC Snoqualmie Ridge's website:

This 207-yard par three with carry over water and bunkers will test even the strongest player's nerves. With a carry of 196 yards over Eagle Lake and an additional 8 yards to carry the greenside bunker, the ninth hole can quickly ruin a decent round with one poorly executed swing. Commitment to going for it is critical for success on Screaming Eagle.

Brad Bryant is tied with Irwin for the lead at the moment, and has collect three birdies through ten holes and sits at 4-under as well. Behind Irwin and Bryant, Chip Beck and Kenny Perry are nipping at their heels at -3. Seven players are at -2. Stay tuned for more!
