Chip Kelly Closes Oregon Practices
Our friends at Addicted To Quack reacted to the news that Oregon coach Chip Kelly has decided to close spring practices in Eugene. And they are befuddled.
It doesn't really seem like there's a reason for the Ducks to close practice, and I thought this point by David Piper was extremely well put:
Perhaps Kelly simply wants to eliminate distractions for his team--although if they want to accomplish what everyone expects them to next fall, they need to learn to deal with many more distractions then a few people on the sidelines during practice.
This sort of thing is really the M.O. for Chip Kelly, but at the same time you can't argue with the results he is producing. In addition to the post on ATQ, the comments thread that follows is equally insightful as to just how strong fans feel about this move.

Bill Doba Returning To The Palouse
As a part of the lead-up to its spring game Washington State in planning a number of events, which includes the return of former head coach Bill Doba. It will mark Doba's first trip back to the area since 2007 when his tenure as head coach of the Cougars ended.
Truthfully, we don't know much about what Coug fan's feelings towards Doba are, but we have rarely encountered a better human being in the coaching profession. Glad that Wazzu and Doba are on good enough terms that this reunion can happen.

Previewing OSU DB's
OSU returns a group of experienced defensive backs this year, as well as some solid depth at all positions. 2012 is expected to be a year of high-octaine offenses in the PAC-12, particularly through the air.
That being said, the experience in the secondary could be a huge benefit to the Beavers. Some feel this might be one of the better secondaries to take the field in Corvallis in some time.
