The Oregon State Beavers will take on one of the most prestigious college football schools in the country in the 2012 Alamo Bowl -- the Texas Longhorns.
Mack Brown's Longhorns spent the better part of the oughts as one of the perennial national title contenders, but recently, the Longhorns have slipped and have failed to reach a BCS game since the 2009 Rose Bowl.
Oregon State, meanwhile, exceeded expectations this season, and are two-point favorites over Texas, even though the game is being played in San Antonio.
The Seattle Times' Bud Withers believes that the Beavers will come away with the win in the Alamo Bowl, mainly because of Oregon State's explosive passing attack. Withers picks Oregon State to win, and cover the spread, 28-23.
ESPN's number center, which includes picks by AccuScore and NumberFire, also have Oregon State winning the 2012 Alamo Bowl. Per NumberFire, Oregon State has a 57.9-percent chance of winning the Alamo Bowl.
Kickoff between Texas and Oregon State is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. PT on Saturday, Dec. 29.
